Mates, the word is out!  Barclays PLC and ABN Amro NV have both confirmed that they will merge to become the largest European bank.  In doing so, Barclays will buy-out ABN share by offering US$49.25 (GBP24.58) or 3.225 ordinary shares of the new group for each ABN share.  ABN will be no longer, and in joining Barclays, they will also sell their US subsid LaSalle Bank to the American's Bank of America for $21 billion in cash.  All in all, the total deal will be worth US$91.1...

What did I say? Morgan Stanley exceeding everyone's dreams, with revenues back to $8 billion.  Expect the banks to do good this third quarter.  We still have the others to come, get in while you can.  Cheers!

Lehman announced third quarter performance, and pretty much like Goldman did, Lehman also beat market expectations.  True, earnings fell, but they fell less than believed, and despite the summer slow-down, Lehman earned $916 million, or $1.57 a share, compared with $879 million, or $1.47 a share a year earlier.  Everyone was thinking it to be $1.49 EPS.After Goldman reported, the expectation that Lehman would perform the same was pretty much digested into the market.  So far, Le...
